RTP — Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe
Reinforced thermoplastic pipe for transport, injection and corrosive-fluid applications in oil & gas operations.
Technology developed by an international manufacturer specialized in piping systems for the energy industry. Technical and commercial inquiry via Market Alliance.
Country of manufacture: China (scope: Flexible RTP line)
Catalog: Flexible RTP and metallic pipe
Use the search box and filters to find a documented configuration and prepare a requirement from it. The metallic pipe category has its own space and does not inherit materials, performance data or standards from Flexible RTP.
Non-metallic, multilayer construction
RTP (Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe) is a non-metallic reinforced piping system built in three layers — an inner liner, a reinforcement layer of industrial polyester filaments, and an outer protective layer — manufactured through inner pipe extrusion, reinforcement layer winding and outer coating. It is supplied in continuous lengths that can be spooled onto a reel.
Documented benefits
- Flexibility: installation in continuous, spoolable lengths adaptable to field routing.
- Reduced weight versus conventional metallic solutions.
- Fewer field joints thanks to reel-based installation.
- Corrosion resistance depending on configuration and validated chemical compatibility.
Documented applications
These apply to the Flexible RTP line; they do not apply to the metallic pipe category, which has no manufacturer data yet. Gas transportation, marine use, produced water and water reinjection are subject to engineering review and project-specific validation.
Documented connection systems (Flexible RTP)
In oil & gas applications, the manufacturer indicates common use of crimped-type connections. Assigning a specific connection type to a given DN/PN configuration is not documented.
Testing, normative references and project qualification
Expand each block to see the detail of documented testing. Per-project regulatory qualification remarks remain visible below without expanding anything.
Reference standards
Designed and evaluated with reference to API RP 15S and applicable SY/T standards depending on configuration. Reference to a standard does not constitute certification or imply approval by any authority or operator.
Documented tests
Burst test results (technical detail)
| Configuration | Burst pressure |
|---|---|
| DN17 PN32 | >100 MPa |
| DN40 PN25 | 99 MPa |
| DN50 PN25 | 83.9 MPa |
| DN85 PN16 | 59.2 MPa |
| DN150 PN6.4 | 26 MPa |
Third-party testing
Selected configurations have undergone third-party pressure, mechanical and joint-integrity testing. The evidence file (reports/certificates) is detailed in the document registry below.
H₂S / CO₂ / chloride compatibility
Selected liner materials have been tested under defined H2S, CO2 and high-chloride conditions.
Service life
Manufacturer-stated service life of up to 20 years, subject to operating conditions, fluid composition and product selection.
Mexico and United States: project qualification
Mexico
Acceptance of an RTP configuration for a specific project is subject to applicable regulation, operator specifications, service conditions and engineering validation.
United States
Regulatory acceptance depends on service, jurisdiction, operator requirements and project-specific qualification. Certain regulated pipeline applications may require additional regulatory review or authorization.
Document registry (dossier by category)
No document is marked "received" or "validated" without real evidence. Metallic pipe has its own pending dossier, independent from the Flexible RTP one. Expand each category to see the detail.
Prepare your pipe requirement
Fill in what you know about your project. This tool organizes your information into a text summary — it does not calculate price, confirm availability, or automatically recommend a product, and it does not send anything on its own. You may enter "Not sure" in any field you do not know. A project description is required to generate the summary.
How it works: select a product or reference from the catalog (optional) → fill in the operating conditions → "Generate summary" (produces the text) → "Copy summary" (copies it to your clipboard) → email that summary to hola@alliance.org.mx to request a technical and commercial review of your project. If you change any data after generating the summary, you will need to generate it again before you can copy it.
Prefer to skip the form? You can email directly to hola@alliance.org.mx, or check the institutional channel Market Alliance.
Already generated and copied your summary? Send it to hola@alliance.org.mx to request a technical and commercial review of your project.
